“Signs of Healthy Behaviors in LGBTQ+ Relationships:
– Comfortable pace can look like respecting someone’s timeline for coming out to their family or friends and not rushing them.
– Respect can look like using correct personal pronouns and name — and quickly correcting yourself if you make a mistake.
– Honesty can look like being truthful with one another about boundaries regarding outness and public displays of affection.
– Equality can look like combatting stereotypes about LGBTQ+ relationship dynamics (Example: Avoiding assumptions about butch/femme dynamics to ensure both people have an equal say in the relationship).
– Independence can look like being comfortable spending time alone and with different friend groups both in and outside of the LGBTQ+ community.
