Formal Grievance Process Flowchart

This is the College’s default resolution process for cases involving a Student Respondent.

You can use the following text as a flow chart for the Formal Grievance process. Each number corresponds to a step in the process.

    1. A formal complaint is signed by the Reporter or Title IX Coordinator requesting to pursue a formal investigation.
    2. A formal investigation is conducted by the Office of TItle IX & Sexual Misconduct
    3. Is the Formal Complaint dismissed? If yes, the parties can appeal the dismissal to the AVP. If no appeal received, skip to Step 8. If appealed, the AVP can refer the case back to Step 2 for a continuation of the investigation or Step 4 to proceed straight to a formal hearing if deemed warranted. If the Formal Compliant is not dismissed, continue to Step 4.
    4. Formal Administrative Hearing
    5. Is the Respondent found in-violation? If yes, continue to Step 6. If no, skip to Step 7.
    6. Sanctions determined by the Hearing Administrator.
    7. Appeal to VPSA. See policy for details around possible appeal outcomes.
    8. Case Closed

For any questions or concerns, please contact the Title IX Coordinator, Chelsea Jacoby, directly at jacobyc@tcnj.edu or (609) 771-3112.
